Donji Miholjac (Hungarian: Alsómiholjác, German: Unter-Miholtz) is a town in the region of Slavonia, Croatia.

Geography

Donji Miholjac is located on the river Drava at the border with Hungary, 34 km north of Našice; elevation 97 m.

Economy

Chief occupations are farming, rubber and plastics processing, production of vinegar, soft drinks and pasta.

There are 9,468 inhabitants in the area, in the following settlements:[1]

In the census of 2001, 95% of the population were Croats.

Culture

The Miholjac Gathering (Miholjacko Sijelo) represents the most important event, including traditional folk costumes, tunes and dances as well as rich gastronomic offer.

Angling and hunting represent the main basis of tourism. The immediate surroundings of the town offer hunting, and the nearby fishpond and the Drava river angling opportunities. Tennis courts are situated near the hotel. In addition to the Slavonian specialities, Donji Miholjac and its surroundings offer freshwater fish (carp, amur, pike-perch, sheat-fish, etc.)
